ABOUT TEAM NTC
NAGA TAEKWON-DO CLUB is an Affiliate Member of Central Visayas Taekwondo Association Inc. (CVTAI).The group was formed when Joeren S. Canucot 1st Dan Black Belt of ITF-CVTAI-PITC introduced Taekwondo Training Program at Placido L. Señor National High School, Langtad City of Naga, Cebu way back February 20, 2012.
During that time, the group was originally composed of several students (15+) of PLSNHS (Placido L. Senor National High School) together with few courageous teachers Ms. Ivy Florall Cantal, Ms. Nova Dayondon, Ms. Ada Dayondon, Mrs. Mary Gay Labrado, the pioners of NTC who underwent the rigid training in taekwondo. The group was still under the Blue Tigers Taekwondo Naga of Kim Obeso that time. Not until we heard some complaints from students and their parents about issues regarding Kim Obeso that there are uniforms have not been released, borrowed money from parents and students have not been paid and other money issues.
After that incident, Joeren Canucot decided to broke up with Kim Obeso and the Blue Tigers Taekwondo was disbanded and was being suspended by the CVTAI and instructor Kim Obeso was also suspended and was prohibited by the Association to teach taekwondo until the latter answers all legal issues filed by the association, parents and School Division Office of different schools he handled.
As a result from those issues, the Taekwondo Team of Naga and the players was left hanging in the air, whether they will still continue to pursue taekwondo or stop for good. Some players still managed to continue training but under with other affiliated chapters of CVTAI.
Despite of the problems of the previous chapter, Joeren Canucot decided with courage and no hesitation on his part to form a new group to redeem the good image of Taekwondo in the City of Naga and proved to all that we still exist.
From then on, NAGA TAEKWON-DO CLUB (NTC) was formed backed-up by the teachers-coaches of PLSNHS Ms. Ivy Florall Cantal and Ms. Nova Dayondon and co-founder Jerum Tapasao. Carrying the name of the new group, we have debuted in our first Invitational Tournament at Minglanilla and our students gather medals from different weight categories.
Now, we are still on a rebuilding stage, start from scratch and hopefully bring this Team into one of the top producers of skilled Taekwon-Do players who will represent the team into different Tournaments around Cebu and maybe around Philippines. So join us as we go up and together "We Fall, We Stand, We Fight with Respect and Might!" NTC FIGHT!!!
